It seems to be more of the same for JP Weiscarver, reporter for the Oldport Odds and Ends newspaper. He returns to the Gulf of Mexico from a two-week vacation in the Black Hills and Yellowstone and finds his girlfriend problems are worse rather than better. Promptly, though, JP finds a distraction from his personal issues when a mysterious obituary appears even though a body has not been found.
With the help of his usual band of co-workers, clues come together to lead to a body. Next comes determining what happened and why.
Considering that the victim was a restaurant critic with a history of berating businesses that did not advertise with him, there is an ample supply of suspects. Can it really be that simple?
